12:55 pm	Happy New Year!!! Happy New Year everyone! I guess I fell off the face of planet LJ for a while, but it's been fun searching through the months and months and MONTHS of entries...honestly, I can't believe how many entries there have been since I last logged on. I don't feel any different today than I did yesterday. I'm supposed to feel renewed and ready to take on the new year, right? I'm not feeling it. I don't really have any resolutions either, except to STUDY, STUDY, STUDY for the MCAT, which ends in January. What do I do with the rest of the year? I don't like the beginning and end-ness of the new year thing. I think my new year's resolution is going to be to create my own beginnings and endings according to my life schedule and plans...hahaha, I crack myself up with the irony. Hahaha, I am so funny. 3:35 pm	bleak friday so today i went to get my 45000 mile checkup at my dealer. i turned my car in at 9 this morning, and what time is it now? that's right. it's frickin 3:30 in the afternoon and they haven't called yet. i can't believe i was thinking of waiting there the entire time while the car was being whatever is done to it. luckily, my dad, who has the better head for these things, realized that when the worker/customer service person/whatever that person is called told us the check up would take 3-4 hours, it would really take over six and a half hours. it's alright. i have officially decided to study for the mcats, which will take that six and a half hours times a hundred. but because of the deadlines for the mcats and everything, i'm gonna have a free year after graduation that i've gotta fill with something. wow. a whole year to fill. i just dropped my little sis off at ucmerced this past weekend. they look like they have a pretty cool masters program in environmental engineering and computational bio. that could be pretty cool. but then to enter those programs i have to bust my ass these next months to get three recs and to study and take the GREs by mid-january, which is when the app is due. and that's just one idea. if that fails, i've got no idea whatsoever what i'm going to do. oh my goodness. all this thinking about my prospective immediate future full of paperwork and standardized testing and research on possible one-year post graduation options is depressing me and kinda making my head hurt. 8:07 pm	Back from Korea I just got back from Korea. It was awesome!!! Jeju-do is gorgeous. But it's so humid out there, I don't think I could ever live there...well maybe on Jeju-do, but definitely not on the main peninsula. We were weather-shocked as we alternated going out into the hot sticky weather and then going back into the air-conditioned rooms. The funny thing is, everyone was telling us how nice the weather was for Korea...pssshh, whatever. I guess I'm exaggerating...the weather was okaaay. The first two days were hell, but after that it was actually quite cool due to an odd breeze and slight drizzles. According to the natives, the weather was at least better than the week before we arrived. It was supposedly hell on earth then. So now it's back to reality. My brain is messed up from all the time changes and everything. I don't know what day it is and that kind of stuff. I ate so much more food in Korea than I usually eat and gained absolutely no weight (okay, maybe like a measely 3 lbs), and I didn't exercise at all! Craziness. From this experience, I have concluded that American food makes you fat, so I am going to eat Korean food from now on. Even with all the patbingsu and ice cream and chocolate and all this Korean junk food I was fine. I had patbingsu and ice cream every day! When we got back to the U.S., my little sis was craving American food so we went to Islands, and now I feel like I'm going to throw up, and I only ate half a hamburger. I am so happy. 11:27 pm	Done with FINALS!!! YAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm freeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!! I'm done with finals. I'm done with finals. I'm done with finals. YAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I was reading this article in TIME weekly. The cover story is on teenagers (thirteen years olds, specifically). On page 74 there is this article on research that was done on mice and diets. Some mice were fed high-fructose corn syrup in their water. The control mice were just given water. The mice that had the fructose-diet ate less food and gained more weight. They put on 90% more body fat than the mice that only drank water. AAHHHHHHH!!! No more fructose corn syrup for me! They say that fructose may affect metabolism in a way that favors fat storage and that this may be the reason why so many U.S. kids are overweight. This is fantastic...I guess we always knew sugar was bad, but for them to say that corn syrup specifically makes us fat by !90%!!! even if we eat less is horrible. That stuff's in everything! 1:50 pm	long time, no write i'm done with summer school this thursday...yes! i have to go to a party for my boss today, and i don't know where she lives. i searched her on zaba, so i'm hoping that the address i got is the correct one. how scary is that...you can look up people online and find out all their info. my boss's address turned up like twelve times (or at least, hopefully it's my boss's info). I want to get a lizard. There's this dragon bearded lizard that looks really cool. I saw all these reptiles on marc marrone's pet show (or something to that effect) and all the animals are so cool!! right after the show i went to petco, and some of the reptiles looked awesome. but some of them looked unhealthy, even to my untrained eye, so i think i might opt to look for a breeder. my little sister is terrorizing my hamster. she grabs him the way little two year olds grab at animals, like lenny from of mice and men, except she isn't a flubbering dumb dope. i swear i see flashes of red in her pupils when she reaches for mixhail. as usual, i'm procrastinating. i'm supposed to be studying and completing my homework. instead, i'm here. ...so how about that biking trip down california? with the weird weather and stinking humid heat, i think that the later we go in the summer, the better. i like a cool breeze in my face when i bike. of course, this entire plan is only addressed to like two people: beck and me. so please, please, please, if anyone else is up for a little bicycling, respond! 1:12 am	New Day Our apartment is looking so empty! Boo hoo! I carried my desk down to my car thinking that I would load it up and bring it to Goodwill. Forget that. It was hard enough carrying the damn thing down to the car(by myself, by the way). It was so heavy! So instead, I just dragged it a couple of feet to the nearby dumpster. :) Near the dumpster, I found a tv. Since I was bored and felt really lonely up here in the empty apartment, I dragged it to our apartment for a week's worth of television. A post-it note on the tv said that it was in good working condition. What liars! The damn thing doesn't even work! So here I am, lying on the living room carpet (I basically set up a living space/sleeping space here), playing on my computer and watching Harry Potter over and over again. I hope everyone is having fun at AX. I already miss them (tear). Moving out sucks. I still have so much crap in my room that I need to move. On a more positive note, since I vowed to be more positive on these entries, my classes are awesome! I love my professors. They're so funny. And one of them is Russian (or at least of some type of slavic origin)! Time to clean up some more. (1 Comment |Comment on this)

12:46 pm	bored III: The Return so it's still lunchtime, but i don't really feel like going out to eat cuz i don't know anybody and my feet are killing me! i should have known better than to wear high heels on the metro. i saw these girls this morning on the metro that were just GENIUS. they were all dressed up, very professional-looking, but they were wearing sneakers! unbelievable. and there's me, the inexperienced mofo, massaging my poor little piggies. so here i sit, anxiously, wondering whether or not the attorneys are gonna choose to keep me on the jury, which they probably will. i was the perfect candidate. i was gonna play the conservative "you steal an apple, we cut off your hand" card, but then the judge did this huge shpeal on perjury and stuff, and everyone around me looked so serious and into it, even though they weren't the perfect candidate like me, so when they started asking me questions, i did the whole answer truthfully and honestly thing, and they totally bought it!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! I'm screwed! i hope this trial doesn't last long, cuz i start summer school on monday. oh my goodness, they're gonna pick me. i'm screwed. i've accepted my fate. to those of you who recognize that really innocent face that i sometimes make inadvertently, THAT was the one i used while answering my questions. i was so nervous. i felt like i was being tried. 9:58 am	JURY DUTY XP AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sitting in a little computer booth, waiting for my name to be called for jury service. My only comfort and source of entertainment is this one computer of five that was installed just recently. Get me out of here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
